Buyer protection fee.
Buyers will be charged a flat fee of 75p per item, which will only be charged once if purchasing multiple items within a listing.
You'll also be charged 4 per cent of the item price up to £300, and 2 per cent of any portion between £300 and £4,000.
It means that a £20 item will incur a 75p flat fee plus an 80p variable fee, meaning customers will have to pay an additional £1.55 plus postage.
Two £5 items in the same listing, will incur the 75p flat fee, plus 40p variable fee (4 per cent of £5 x 2).
You won't pay any additional fees above £4,000, meaning there is an effective cap of £86.75.
Apparently this started this month.

I noticed this on something I sold recently and it explains why lots of prices are now odd numbers. They've moved the fees away from sellers to complete with marketplace.

The owner, although not popular, is hoping to run for president, which cost money, so is preparing to get a fee for selling, a fee for handling and a fee for buying.

The new "tax" isn't paid on things bought from business sellers so it's boosting their sales and cutting private sales.

Which is why it was such a surprise 😁

I think it has been fairly obvious for a while now that Ebay are not interested in private sellers any more. There must be more money and less pain in the ass in being just another business to customer platform.
I wouldn't be surprised if they go under in the next few years

I never used to read them either. I got my fingers seriously burnt by not reading a five minute email with another company so tend to read every one I get now and yes EBay has been going down the tubes for a while now!

Preparing to fly into another rage at the checkout where I will be charged another quid by Thievebay I was surprised to find there was no fee!
I did check to see if the seller was a private seller and they were.
Hmmmm, what's going on? 😁
Maybe there's a lower limit where you don't get charged?
I really must read those emails. 🤔

If I were younger (and much less lazy), I'd start a site that bridged the water between those who need something and the more fortunate who have items to sell.
I'd call it "AGulf".

Ok, I bid on an item a week ago and just won it for the grand sum of two quid.

The price you see on ebay already has the fee added to it.
If I advertise an item for £10 you will see the sell price as £11.15 but to me I still see £10
It is really bad for people selling low cost items such as £1, as the seller will see £1.79 so a large markup on small cost parts.
