Hi Chaps,

I have a 1998 SPI JDM Rover and i blew the diff out of it today.

I have previously removed engines from older mini's and mokes but this one has aircon.

Has anyone got tips and tricks for engine removal with aircon, Not sure if i need to degas the system or can i remove the motor with A/C pipes intact?

Cheers.

Most likely you'll have to remove the engine from below and carefully tie the compresor in place. That's what I did on my 1986 one but the system is a bit different.

   i was hoping not to do it this way due to space constraints in the garage.

To take the engine out of the top you’ll need to have the air con degassed and remove most of it. To take the engine out of the bottom you’ll need to drop the subframe but the o/s tower bolt has limited access due to the air con … so you’ll need to have it degassed and remove some of it … I’m sure you see the problem!

IMHO you’d be better taking the bits of the air con out to refresh whatever you need to before refitting and having it re-gassed, suspension cones, subframe rubber mounts etc.
