So the car came with a rocker switch missing (see photo) and I'm not sure what it had there from factory.Attached File  20250220_165858.jpg   62.96K   4 downloads

I think it needs a break test switch but the problem is there is no wiring for it.
The only wire i have left to plug in is the one in the photo below.

Just for clarification its a 1977GT with a single line brake system.

Any help would very much appreciated.

Hmmm now you asking, I have a 1976 GT, let me have a look in the morning, I thought that was the heated rear screen, but maybe not

I remember my new 1980 1275gt had a rear fog light switch in the empty hole and I think the green/white wire is for a radio.

if it was brake test then there should be a float switch and wiring at the master cylinder.

+1 for radio feed being the LIGHT green/white

Typically the missing switch would have been the brake test switch but people do delete them (naughty, as it is supposed to be there)

If they have removed the switch I guess its entirely possible they removed the wires (you are looking for purple to the bulb (in the switch you haven't got!) then 2x black/white (one from the bulb to the cylinder and one from the cylinder to the switch) and a black to earth

I’m pretty certain the 1275gt never had a brake test switch as standard.

I suppose there is every possibility that it was a blanking piece that has fallen out.

The Haynes manual wiring for 1275GT 1976 on . shows the brake test switch as an option. This would have been in the period of transition from single to dual line brakes.

I am not sure all your switches are in the position they were when they left the factory, but you are missing the brake fluid level / warning light switch.

My 1978 1275GT had one, but I can't remember where it was on the panel.

I've deleted mine but rewired it so the orange warning light will come on if the level drops (Surely better anyway because you're not relying on having to actually press the button to find out, and you could forget)

so that orange light is now low oil pressure and/or low brake fluid.  either way, orange light = pull over and check things

Hi all, and a massive thanks for all your help!
I think I've come to the conclusion that because of the year of the car and all the inconsistencies around that period I've got a car that had a single line brake system with a hydronic brake light swich and a metal master cylinder hence no brake test rocker switch and no wires tha could go to it from the loom even if it hade one at some point in time.... the only problem is i still have a hole in my dash?

I guess my next question is does anyone out there have a ctr rocker switch console
with a blanking plate in it from factory?

Pressing the button is just to test the bulb, not to check fluid level - the light WILL illuminate on its own if the level drops (assuming the bulb is working of course which is why the test function was included)

I was assuming that the OP knew the switch was missing based on their first comment - people are correct, the switch was optional so not all cars had them (and not on older single line cars) and that is why the requisite cables aren't there (anyone know the date they became 100% fitment?)
