My ‘98 JDM Mini has an Mpi block with Spi injection, but no dizzy. Would the camshaft therefore be an Mpi camshaft?

Does it have a cam sensor fitted? That’ll be the giveaway, only really difference on the cams other than the dizzy drive which your block won’t have if it’s MPi casting

Is the cam sensor internal to the block or is it obvious from the outside? I’m in tne process of stripping the engine but haven’t got to the cam yet.

It’s where the mechanical fuel pump is on earlier blocks, nsr of the block, bolted on external so you’ll see if it’s there or not.
