Finally got round to bolting up the supercharger today and fitting the bottom pulley. The tensioner supplied is a bit whack and I’m not sure if it’s meant to be this way but where it is in the picture it’s pretty much fouling the vent and close to where the lower rad hose will be going.

I've not seen one of these before but just looking at picture can the rear section of the belt not run over the pulley with the front running straight?

That all looks wrong to me, but my supercharging was all done with a sliding-vane Shorrock

what's actually holding that pulley at the right angle? is it just friction from the tightness of the single bolt?

Having the back going over the tensioner first is somewhat similar maybe a little better but still very tight.
I really don’t like the tensioner that was supplied I know they need some form of actual tensioner like a spring to keep tension ( this will just loosen and need adjusting constantly.
It’s a m45 from the r53 mini. What tensioners do you guys have? I couldn’t find any apart from factory tensioners

And would I need some way of reversing rotation if it’s spinning backwards? Not sure how that would work without major fabrication and gears
My apology, I got that wrong, I was thinking of my old Shorrock supercharger.

It looks like the more recent kits used a smaller diameter pulley

Something like a 123 programmable distributor would be a good idea, as you can program to retard the timing under boost. There are also many other options with trigger wheels and fully mappable ignition curves vs rpm and load
