I was getting ready to spray Wayoyl down through the A pillars and discovered a block of foam stuffed in the top of the right side post. If this was a factory thing it sure was a stupid factory idea.
Do you guys recommend putting it back in for reason I'm missing? It seems like it would be a moisture trap. And probably caused the roof to rot out on the car I'm doing now.
You thoughts are appreciated.

It's a factory thing and likely why I could put my hand through the corners of my roof.

The car is supposed to have originally been a 1978, RHD Mini 1000. It was converted to LHD, before we got it. It also is powered by an MG metro engine.
I found the foam in the right hand A post. The wiring for the rear runs through the left hand A post. There was no foam in that post. But, there was also no roof above the A post so maybe the foam went away with the roof?
Repairing that roof section was fun.
