Hello All,

I am looking for ideas as I am chasing a constant drain on my 1992 SPI.

I have a drain of 0.2A with all the lights off, radio disconnected and key out of the ignition. The draw is measured between the positive of the battery and the positive lead.

So far I have removed the 4 fuses on the front bulk head one at a time and removing them makes no difference the the current draw. Are there any electrical systems that are unfused?

and are there any idea of things to check?

Thanks

Waz

You say one at a time. Are you refitting them?  there are other fuses you will need to pull to tie down what circuit it is.

look at the wiring diagrams above.

My experience is that the immobiliser can run the battery down. The problem with the spi is that the immobiliser/ alarm seems to activate itself, without using the fob. I use a battery cut off.

To the best of my ability i have followed the diagrams in the Haynes manuals, however i have never found a diagram that shows the location of all the fuses. I had all 4 glass fuses out of the fuse holder on the bulkhead out at the same time and the draw was still there and remained constant. I also removed the two fuses in inline fuse holders behind the air filter, and the inline fuse under the dash.

There are many unfused things in a mini. It could be anything. Has it been in the rain?

you could try a clamp meter to trace which wires have current running through them, you'd have to check the accuracy of the meter to make sure it can measure that low though (and DC)

not a recommendation just right sort of type

I had a similar problem to this I checked all the fuses one by one to no avail. Mine would be fine for days then suddenly go flat. It turned out to be the alternator draining the battery. Good luck with your search. If you have run out of ideas it might be worth getting an automotive electrician to check it out.
