Interesting article by David Vizard (from Auto Performance magazine July 1984) on why he has written, tested and investigated modifying the A-Series engine more than most other engines...except for his favourite engine, which is the small block Chevrolet V8 !

I remember "Auto Performance", a sort of "Car and Car Conversion" rip off.

I say rip off, because there was an article about an Imp, "Part two next month", and they never published the second part.

Auto Performance magazine was launched in 1982 by Link House Publications who also published Triple C magazine. The plan was to cover the low cost budget end of UK motorsport in greater depth than CCC.

And let's face it, there was plenty of us trying to do it on bugger all! 😁

I've always liked DV, his writing style is very easy to follow, I think some of his books needed better proof reading as anomalies have been found. I'm not sure how many of you watch his YouTube channel ( no A series content) but I feel like it's a guy trying to get his knowledge out there before it's too late. He freely admits he can now only manage 2 hours a day manual work or 4 hours office since his surgery. Some of his ramblings about his racing days do make me chuckle, as I think there is a fair bit of journalistic license going on.
