When I was on the Unipower GT stand at the Sports Car Show, someone came up and in the course of chatting about the weight of Fibreglass bodywork, mentioned that he had a friend who had moulded a Carbon Fibre Mini shell. I gave him my card, because a Carbon Fibre Unipower would be rather nice, and he promise to put me in touch with his friend, but I never heard anything.

Ironic that it lost the external seams, when they were largely there so steel bodyshells could be assembled abroad.

DeadSquare,
The nearest you might get to a carbon fibre monocoque Unipower might be a Davrian with a mini engine.http://www.darrian.c..._for_sale.html#
There were probably about a 10 or so produced, Mk6,7 and 8, but many have been converted to different engines now although I know of 5 that still exist with mini engines.

Thank you. Interesting. If I was widowed, I'd email him, Lol.
Once upon a time, long, long ago, I had set my heart on a Randal Bros, "Landar".
If you are not familiar with the Marque, it was an open Can-Am, mid Mini engined sports racing car, with a future plan to be able to take the engine cover off its hinges and replace it with a roofed version that enclosed the car.
Alas, my name didn't even get to the top of the Can-Am order book, far less the en-closable version.
I still have the engine that I was building for it, with the beginnings of converting the cylinder head to 8 ports and a single overhead cam.
