Just a curiosity question here, going along the lines of poor fitting Distributor caps/ rotors/ and even clips. 

 

Are modern caps/ rotor buttons made of differing materials? Was bakelite the original material.?

I think bakelite was used not sure now looks like plastic now

The original Lucas and Bosch ones were as mini1955 has suggest, cast in Bakerlite, though these days, I think they are a cheap resin with next to no electrical properties.

I am going to try these rotor arms and distributor caps.
I have not been happy with rotor arms since minispares stopped selling the blue ones.

Fiberglass-reinforced plastic or  thermoplastics such as phenolic resin or polyamide (PA, nylon)... who knows they are not labelled.

This is a very important question, from the correct recycling point of view.

 

I'm sure that your Local Government or Council, will have Recycling Officers, and even if people at a lower level. don't know, I'm sure that a senior member of the team will tell you, exactly where to put it.

For clarity, phenolic resin is not a thermoplastic it's a thermosetting plastic.

 

As spider said, they were bakelite (phenolic resin) in the old days.

There was a spell when you could get see through ones, presumably acrylic or polycarbonate. The blues ones were supposed to have higher heat resistance. If they're being done on the cheap it's more likely to be the amount & type of filler in the recipe.
