1983 Mini Mayfair

Hi.  as the weather has been good for a few days I decided to give the old girl a run out.

There is a noise from what appears to be the offside front wheel.

It sound like something is rubbing and is speed dependent as when I slow right down, so does the noise.

When I coast down hill with the engine off ( private land of course ! ) it is still there.

No difference if I turn left or right.

best described as a whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.

Any suggestions would be welcomed as I want it sorted before the spring.

TIA

It could be the disc shroud rubbing if you have one as you may have picked up a stone.

Your brake pads could be getting thin and touching metal.

It could be the wheel bearing but that is normally a squeaking noise.

I would get the wheel in the air and give it a spin, hopefully there`s something easy to fix.

Could be the pads rubbing on the discs, esp if any rust has built up, does the noise change in anyway when you brake?

I would jack the car up on the offside and spin the wheel by hand, can you hear any rubbing then. If so that would most likely rule out the wheel / tyre touching the bodywork at least

I would expect another dust shield to have failed if it was on one of my minis.
