Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what goes in this rectangular hole under the central speedo opening on the firewall?

1978 Morris 1000.

I cant remember what was there. It was all covered in a horrible rotten noise blanket, and cant remember if it was open or if it had a function.

Thanks

I'm glad you asked because I too was trying to remember what was there, other than dirt.

Perhaps a drain hole incase the speedo pod gets some rain

It’s there on the factory parts manual too

That clip is lower down, you can see that clip in my photo below the arrow.

That could be a sensible suggestion.

Present on my '72 Mk3 shell.

It is a hole designed specifically to cause consternation and generate conversation.
