Fitting Heritage Scuttle

Should I trial fit the outer wings and bonnet , and find the best compromise between this and the window opening?
If I do that, do I also need to fit the front panel? And if I do that, do I need to fit the front sub?
Does anyone have any dimensions of the window opening I could use to check the scuttle position ? I seem to be able to choose between nicely aligning with the top bulkhead or sitting nicely on the inner wings.
Any advice appreciated

The window aperture is important and is what i used to get my scuttle to sit right (learnt a lesson from not doing that on my lads car) There is a little bit of wiggle room with this but not a huge amount.
If you look at this picture you will seem some measurements at the top that should help you out. The radiuses in the corners of the scuttle did have a little bit more metal than the original scuttle but not a lot so some minior trimming there may be needed for the windscreen. The measurements are edge of flange to edge of flange

As long as the flange that the seal sits on is the same depth all the way along and the dash rail, bulkhead and scuttle flanges are all at the same height you’re good.
Personally I’ve never worried about test fitting wings before welding the scuttle on, I just get it fitted and work out from there.

1: the weld flange on the scuttle is an inconsistent depth, so if I align it in one place it’s too high Or low in another . My plan was to use your measurements above and trim away any excess (few mm) . - would this be ok?
2: the corners don’t fit well at all, I plan to trim off this excess to match in dashrail profile - would this be ok?

3: the panel width - a pillar to a pillar seems a little short compared to the car - and the a pilllar profile seems to have ‘relaxed ‘ a little after pressing , meaning the profiles old and new are not a perfect fit. - my plan was to pull this into shape as best I can , by squeezing the new panel and welding it when compressed, then address with filler / someone more skilled during paint prep - any other suggestions?
