Has the cam bearing on the front (fan end) of the engine been fitted correctly? That is the oil feed.

A fellow racer frind of mine, Mano from Düsseldorf, once created this leaflet that used to be visible on his now defunct webside. Luckily I saved it to my pc.
I am afraid in German, but you can surely draw some information out of it:

I've never replaced it before so I'm not sure if the holes in the bearing and block match up.
i can't take the engine out myself so I'm thinking of taking it to a mechanic if that's all I can do.
Thanks your advice.

Does oil squirt ot of that hole if you crank the engine using the starter motor?
It shouldn't be a constant flow of oil, it should be a pulsed flow.
Assuming you have oil pressure in the main gallery, if you don't get oil here when cranking the engine you've got a potential issue with the cam bearing or camshaft or the oil feed between the front main bearing and cam bearing is obstructed.
Are you saying to try cranking the engine without the head?
Please excuse my ignorance about maintenance

Yes.
Obviously place lots of old rag around to catch any oil spillage.
Thanks for the advice, imac.
I'll try cranking it without the engine head tomorrow.

I tried turning the crank about 3 times, but unfortunately no oil splattered. :'<

Yes! What he said!! The oil drains back out of a lot of the engine once switched off. Usually takes a bit to get the pressure back up. If your motor was to ever sit for a long time, its always best to pre-oil whatever you can, remove plugs, and crank it over till the light goes out of gauge starts to read before things start spinning really fast and create damaging heat.
