Having constant web sever down faults today. Is there an issue that needs addressing?

I regularly get errors on this site. Not sure how it can be so unreliable.

Many thanks guys for letting us know. I did find the same myself a few times today.

I don't know if it's the same issue, but it's been on and off for some time now, though it does have long periods when it's all good.

to be honest it happens so often that I don’t bother mentioning it anymore. Is it worth reporting every time it happens?

Yes it’s worth shouting out, we can then go to Deathrow to look into the potential issue. He is not on here 24/7 so he won’t know if there is an issue.

When something is highlighted I contact him to have a look. But unless that happens and I or the other Admins are unaware it falls by the wayside.

To be honest in this day and age web server downtime should be less than 0.001%
Having been involved with a web design company many years ago we never had outages like this site 😁. It's almost daily at my end but never lasts that long.
Is the forum hosted in someone's bedroom 😁

I just find something else to do for 20mins and check again after, it's usually back again by then

even with the outages, in terms of active usage and quick replies it's still by far the best forum I've been on so far.. and it's much better than having to wade through all the dross on facebook

I had it a few times yesterday. It looks like it's often during the weekend as more people are on the forum.

I'll echo that thought!

This is the best mini forum ever!
I had joined other forums in the past - but they hardly have any activity. On one where I returned after many years, it seemed that the group was down to a handful of old curmudgeons and they were very dismissive... when anyone replied, that is.

I dumped facebook many moons ago - so that take care of that...

If more people contributed to the forum rather than just took it for granted, would it help with the reliability of the forum?

There were plans to change the forum to a different platform as this one is old, however but it takes a lot to do this and like most things in life the person to do this also works for a living, so trying to do something like this is not a undertaking to be taken lightly.

PLUS the other thing we would not want to do again is have another open FB page as last time it morphed into a monster which is not what this forum is all about. It literally got bombarded with all sorts of nastiness, spam etc etc.

I have pinged a msg to Adam to see if there is anything he can do so like always please be patient.

Aware that I’m not that active on here any more, but I can help with the migration to a new forum software if any help is needed. Day job includes web development and server maintenance/management.

I have access to local docker containers and VM’s so can easily migrate offline if provided with a sample sql dataset.
