‘65 S, rear height 3/4” lower than the front.  Front measurement is 12.50” from center of hub to lower part of the lip of the wheel well.  Both sides the same.   I am thinking maybe air in the system?  L/h Front hydro is a rebuild, rear is original; r/h front is original and rear is rebuild.  The systems hold pressure pretty well, maybe once a year I’ll get a 1/4” drop on one side or the other.  I have the hydro equipment to drain, vacuum and refill.  Any other thoughts?  I figure if that doesn’t fix it it’ll shim the rear struts.

How long have you had the car? Has it been like this since you got it?  Do you know if anyone has refurbished or worked on the suspension?

I doubt that air in the system would cause this particularly if it affects both sides, however, it would be worth vacuuming and refilling with fresh fluid as a first step. Failing that, and assuming the rest of the suspension components are in good condition I would try shimming the knuckle joint as you have suggested.

I had a similar problem on my hydro Elf and used the knuckle joints on the rear that are designed for later cars that have a built in 4.3mm spacer so that the engagement in the connecting rod is maintained. The rear suspension ratio is 5:1 so that would raise the rear by the amount you need to make it level.

Thanks for the input.  I’ve owned the car for 40+.  Never had this problem before.  Yes the engine is in the car..  I’ll give it a go.
