I've been researching roof bars & roof rack options for days for my 97 Mini Cooper. I've come across the Thule Black WingBar package 9512 & 7112B:

Has anyone already made the purchase and used these bars on their own Mini? They seem to be the ideal option for a simple roof box, bike carrier etc.

Is there a specific reason those fit your needs as generic gutter mount bars would be heaps cheaper.

The Thule bars will be compatible with their bike racks and kayak carriers - depends what you're planning to put on top of your mini 😁

I figure the expensive thule ones are nicely shaped and better for aerodynamics, less mpg loss, etc..  but on a car with the aerodynamic coefficient of a brick wall I'm not sure the extra expense is worth it

with the possible exception of compatibility as mentioned above, and I suppose they look nicer if you're into that kind of thing

on my volvo I have budget versions and they do wail like a cartoon ghost over 70-80 or so which is partly amusing and partly annoying depending on the situation and if I'm allowed to turn the music up

They would work on the mini, I have a thule set similar I used to roll my mini over during its resto. Check eBay out, only paid a few quid for them
