Paint after each part have been stripped and cleaned. Before rebuild.
if you are after a BMC look do it after the full rebuild as they just covered everything with paint.

Brush painting i have found to be easiest and more,precise.
Speak to your paint supplier for requirement for any form of under coat.

paint mine with head only fitted then mask up where needed. out of interest tried normal primer and paint as cheper alternative to engine paint with engine warm, not hot, and years later colour is still spot on. One gold and one lime green, you may not like the colour but proves my point this method works.
