Hi at all,

online I found a lot of information about the VIN code, but I need your help....

 

The car in object is a Rover Mini Cooper 1300 MPI wit sport pack, first registration in year 2000.

The VIN code consists of 11 letters and 6 numbers (SAXXNAOOOOO123456).

In  tenth position  the are  2 possible letters are A for 1300 special edition or B for 1300, why i see the letter X ????

What it means??

If you read some of the comments section below the VIN checker on Minimania.com (link below) they say the very late model Chassis/VIN numbers article is not 100% complete. There were a lot of variations they haven't chased down yet.

 

Also like youself some say they have an X at position 10 and it is suggested this = 1999.

I have a mystery as well... 
I have a 'P' on the sixth position.

- I also have a Y in the 10th position which would be consistent with this position indicating the year (X=1999 as indicated above, then Y=2000 would be mine.)

just for my information, your mini sport pack have the VIN on metal plate and glasses? or elsewhere?

Correct - a plate on the right side of the engine bay. Mounted on the side.
Also etched on the windows.
