Hi, All.
Does the A+ mini engine cylinder block have bolt on tappet covers or is it, as later 1275s, a blank casting.
I've seen one for sale but don't know enough to be sure.
Thanks in advance for any information.
Regards.

1275 A+ does not have bolt on tappet covers.
(Only the original 1275 Cooper S block had them and those blocks are now rare and expensive).
A+ distinguishing features:
Strengthening ribs on the block,
Thicker block-gearbox flange,
Distributor clamp is a forked plate with a single bolt into the block,
Dipstick sits directly in block, not in a tube.

The A+ 998 has bolt on tappet covers, same as older engines.

Also 1275 A+ blocks were painted red from the factory, 998 A+ blocks were painted yellow.

Thanks for the information everyone.
I've been away from minis for some time and hadn't kept up with later trends.
Thanks again.
