This was delivered on a transporter today.
It certainly takes me back 50 years in time and to being only 20 years old again.  

to be honest it isn't easy for me to get in/out of as I am 5' 7" in all directions.

My wife thinks her Mini All4 has given birth to a love-child.

I am finding it a bit "tiny" and my feet keep pressing 2 pedals at once.  Eek!

A rolling road report that came with it says 89BHP and 100MPH, but that's not really my thing.

Inside all I can smell when I sit in it is "Engine & RPM".  It is very tidy inside and out.

But start it up and it is very loud in the cabin (that might get annoying after the Rangie V8 Burble).

Still, I have the green slip and it says "Historic Vehicle" so that's half the battle, I just need to straighten up the colour and "cc" particulars.

 

I am sure it is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

If you park the Mini on your drive overnight and not in a garage I would suggest adding some extra security as classic Minis are very easy to steal compared to most modern cars. (see the TMF 'Stolen Mini Alerts' thread)

As a minimum I would advise fitting a good visible mechanical steering wheel lock as linked below when parked up.

Make space in the garage. Safest bet to avoid theft, by far.

It's the only one of those three that will drive in your garage and let you get out.

If you can't get it in the garage box it in with the other two cars.

Also buy a wheel clamp as an extra precaution and deterrent.

Looks great, enjoy it. I do agree with the others though get it off the drive and locked away.  Buy a Disklok or similar, something with a good Thatcham rating not something flimsy.  Speaking from experience it'll be money well spent.

Good advice mab, but £171 for that lock seems a bit steep!

You’d have to be super organised tea leaf to come with a steering wheel!

Even better, if not in garage and not used for a while, take the steering wheel off!

The chances of an common tea leaf stumbling across your uncommon car & knicking it are likely to be less than it being targeted by a professional scumbag. If they've gone to the trouble of finding it, they're also likely to go to the trouble of sussing out any anti theft measures. Mind, that could also include sticking it on skates & wheeling it in to a covered trailer.

Unfortunately the "garage" is a bit "faux" and is only 6'6" wide at the widest and there is a lathe and a workbench in there right behind that shutter door.

But yes I take the point the mini needs protection.   Today I have ordered a steering lock and it is parked up with the other 2 cars hemming it in.  

It is annoying that your "toy/pride & joy" is the target of toe-rags and chancers.
