"Apple’s new pro-family Christmas ad is a breakthrough in the battle against corporate wokery....after the consumer backlash against Bud Light and Jaguar. Apple seems to have received the memo that woke is dead, but British car company Jaguar is still asleep at the wheel."

Do you post everything you find on Facebook? Feels like more American nonsense being imported. ‘Woke’ could easily be given for general British politeness, something our transatlantic cousins find very alien.

I have never been a member of Facebook.

Although I rarely post in this section, if you don't like my posts feel free to ignore them rather than waste your time reading any nonsense I post here.

Facebook has sadly killed off many forums in recent years, so lets hope TMF does not go the same way through lack of active members.

I assume that the quote is from Apple's press release that accompanied the release of their xmas advertising campaign. American nonsense or not, it's certainly better than the woke crap that this country is turning out.

You didn’t include the word ‘woke’ in the title, how was I to tell it was nonsense without opening the thread?

Look, this culture war nonsense some of our celebrities and politicians are trying to tell us is important, isn’t. It’s a distraction. What’s it a distraction from? Everything. Pollution, political corruption, financial mismanagement, you name it, getting people wound up about stuff like ‘can’t call it Christmas anymore’ (ahh an old classic) is just a facade. I’m not going to try and explain it all, life’s too short.

There’s no way Apple would use words like that, they’d lose business hand over fist. Google the quote and they are the words of the Daily Torygraph. It had to be either them or The Mail, the bitter sneery tone gives it away.

Having watched the ad, it’s a lovely emotional piece for a fantastic new feature on a great product, there is absolutely nothing political about it, nothing! So for the Telegraph to politicise it, twist it into a sneery judgemental diatribe really grinds my gears, it’s pathetic! Seeing it posted on here, with a snippet of a quote with no source just makes me sad, pure misinformation. I’ve toned that sentence down, rewritten it twice as I’m raging.

This is a forum for discussing old cars, a community with a passion that should be welcoming to all, trying to attract new members to keep the community alive, pass the passion on to others, but in the last few months it appears to have become quite the opposite. There’s no wonder the new post count these days barely makes a single full page when all the top posts are full of politics. Forums like this should be politically neutral, until there is a relevant political threat that affects the passion we all share, classic Minis.

Personally I’ve always found that the best way to get on with social groups, whether that be work, car clubs, football supporters, blokes in pubs etc. is to avoid getting into political discussion. just stick to the things that get you joining those groups in the first place and everyone gets on (mostly).

So can we get back to talking fixing rusty cars!!!!

It didn’t trouble me enough that I bothered to Goggle the source, especially as it’s in the non car related area of the forum. Mab posts some interesting stuff on this forum and afaik always in the correct areas. I think the forum on the whole is doing pretty well for content. I suggest you avoid the political thread that’s also in this area of the forum.  ;D

Quite happy for the forum admin to delete this thread if it breaks any rules for this off topic section that I am unaware of?

Also completely happy to leave TMF for good if requested by TMF admin.

It should be remembered people have different opinions on things happening in the world and that should be tolerated, shutting things down because some disagree is not the best way forward.

I sometimes read the Daily Telegraph and also sometimes read the Guardian and other news media...I sometimes agree or disagree with articles reported in both those mentioned.

I sometimes watch the BBC news, Sky news and Channel 4 news which are all left leaning politically and sometimes GB news which is right leaning. it's no big deal at the end of the day to get a balance of opinion, rather than living in an echo chamber as some seem to prefer.

Anyway that's me finished with any further posts in this section of TMF, back to the Original Achive, General Chat and Technical questions....
