The end of an Iconic Brand IMHO

the quality has been plummeting in the past decade - it was quite good on occasions in the past .

then they are trying to go all Electric & Woke

Won't end well for them ...

Ironically , 2 Jags John Prescot has also died

Jaguar: British luxury vehicle maker has a new advert that doesn't feature any cars....

Yes, sadly it has also been reported today that John Prescott the former 'old school' Labour deputy UK Prime Minister has died at the age of 86. he was nicknamed 'Two Jags' due to his long love affair with owning Jaguar cars while in high office, including one infamous trip where he drove 200 yards in one to attend an engagement to avoid his wife's hair being ruffled. But he famously got rid of them in 2021, declaring: 'I am now Zero Jags. It is my own small contribution to cutting carbon emissions'.

it looks like someone's A level art project or one of those really poncey performance pieces that has literally no meaning but it'd be displayed at some wine and cheese event where everyone fawns over it and says oh darling it's so brave and groundbreaking

basically, meaningless rubbish

It’s just an advertisement for a car manufacturer that’s different and obviously the 1st of a series and working quite well as every one is aware of new models coming soon.

In the lead-up to the campaign, Jaguar announced it was discontinuing five models with "close to zero profitability.
CEO Adrian Mardell described Jaguar’s changes as “a complete reset” and asserted that “this time, we’re going to do something spectacular.” Jaguar MD Rawdon said the aim was to take Jaguar “back to its natural habitat”, a move that would unashamedly take the cars to an average price point more than double the £55,000 held by the outgoing cars. He promised cars with “a visceral, emotional connection with the driver”....

Did not even have a car in the advert..

If this a dulux paint advert i could understand.. but a car advert.. no....

Well that will be the demise of jaguar then..

They appear to have forgotten what jaguars actually sold..... the classic drivers cars sold very well.

E.type was a revolution...

I'm not sure if JLR have been quite cute here with going total EV, they will avoid the government 15k surcharge for not selling a high enough percentage of EV's and will able to sell on the platforms to other manufacturers making more profit, in the same way as the new Ford Crapri is based on a VW, plus they have got rid of the hideously unreliable ICE engines, as for the Ad well that seems about on par with everything else that's punted out now a days.

Err job done as far as the advert is concerned I'd say!  Done exactly what it set out to do, cause a stink & get media coverage. If they'd have done an ad with a car driving down a desert/country/otherworldly road every viewer would be "Oh there's a new Jag out, meh!, haven't released anything decent in years". The odd car fan may have written words about a beautiful new model on social media car threads or forums like this, but the wider public wouldn't see them.  What this advert has done is set the internet on fire, everyone's discussing it even the news outlets (and GBeebees News). The word Jaguar has passed more lips in the last 48 hours than it has in probably the last 10 years.  So fair play to the adverting "wonks in their thick rimmed glasses", job done.

The truth here is in the press releases from Jag talking about removing unprofitable cars from it's line up. I was only saying to someone last week that I couldn't even tell them what was in Jag line up these days.  I was shocked to find them still pedalling the XE, XF, E-Pace & F-Pace. Fact is these weren't as good as their respective class leaders at launch & were all well overdue a replacement.  Truth is their traditional market has abandoned them, sales between 2018 record and 2022 were down 66%.  They were all over our company car list but nobody chose them, there was brief flourish when the XE was released, but that tailed off quickly. I live in a city with a JLR plant, and you don't see any of them about even though they offer big staff discounts. If you can't sell to discount stock to staff you've got a problem!  The sales of Range Rover & Land Rover have been keeping them afloat for a long time as far as I can see.  So it's dramatic change, new markets or die.

Question for me is what direction does their rebrand take them?  We talking small volume high end luxury cars, or mass market executive cars?  The traditional European exec brands; BMW, Audi etc. are falling behind in the transition to EV so perhaps now is the time for Jag to storm the latter market with some really good stuff. We wait until December 2nd to see.

Jaguar boss says criticism of new advert is ‘vile hatred and intolerance’

Yes it's generated a load of 'interest' but, Christ on a bike, what where they thinking of. I think of myself as a very tolerant person but this stretches my limits.
