I've just seen this box for sale on Facebook.
It's been modded to have an additional oil filter but looking at the picture I can't see how the oil is pumped through it, any ideas?
The pipes appear, from the picture, to leave the sump front, through the filter and back to the sump front.

The middle pipe is a central oil pick-up and the return goes back in and connects to a modification of the Mini's gauze pick-up.

Interesting, does that set up enable you to ''delete'' the original oil filter then, or is it designed to work alongside the original?

There doesn't appear to be a pump in that additional filter's circuit, how does the oil go through it or is there an electric pump out of view ?

In the 80's I needed space in the front of the engine for a winch. The Oil Filter was in the way, so I made a remote fitting Oil Filter set up in that.

as DS suggests above;  a 'suck-through' filter plumbed into the oil-pickup side of the pump

edit : must be a bugger to prime that circuit...

Yes, I get it now .
Cut the internal oil feed pipe and put the remote filter in series with it.
As said, priming could be an issue 😬
Done I would think to seive out any crap before it goes through the pump.

From ebay listing in post below:-

"Remove pre-pump filter adapters machined and fitted to the front of the gearbox casing and modified oil pickup."

If I had gone to all that effort, I would have made it part of a dry-sump system.

OK Cheers for that.

Off hand I can't recall the reasons but these filters are not designed for suck through applications, but only for pressurized applications.

I'm very much all for thinking outside the box, trying new ideas, innovation etc but this is just not necessary and having a much long suction pipe isn't a wise idea.

I would have thought any filtering before the pump would be a good idea.

That makes more sense.

With the right type of filter, maybe.

I once thought that I'd be clever and replace the factory gauze filter with "petrol gauze".

It dropped the oil pressure from 80 PSI to about 25 PSI.

It is nothing new. I did it back in the mid 90s and other did it before me and many still do.
