Good work !

Really getting somewhere.

Most distributors that have 2 springs will have 3 angles to the 'curve'.

Considering curve A in your diagrams, the first steep part is the lighter primary spring, the lesser angle is the heavier secondary spring and the plateau is when it's reached maximum advance.

Curve B has a sing spring or 2 matched springs.

Curve A on both diagrams are the centrifugal advance. The two parallel lines are the minimum and maximum values so it allows +/- 2 degrees tolerance

Curve B is the vaccum advance.

For example I have here the 25D 41026 dizzy from my850 with two different springs. I always thought that it works like I draw it on the diagram below

Sorry, I thought you wanted assistance in interpreting the curves.

Yes, published Lucas curves are +/- 1 degree. While Vacuum can be plotted on a graph it's not normally done that way, just the figures for it's characteristics. It's not normally plotted as the vacuum can is only part of that 'story', the other part being how it's ported to the carb and it's characteristics on the particular manifold and engine it's fitted to.

Yes, indeed, but you referred to curve B as a dizzy with a single or 2 matched springs which confused me  :shifty:

I guess the 2nd break on the 41254 curve is because of a "special mixture" of the two springs.

This may interest you. Jeff Schlemmer has removed all the internals from one of his sun machines and is converting it to electronic speed control as well as an LED conversion. All the original internals have been removed as they have proven to be unreliable (he uses these machines every day). He's using "wireless LEDs". I think the sun machine has an arrow shaped window that the light goes behind, originally a dim neon.

This is where he has been posting about this conversion: https://www.facebook...01609380266329/

This is his website: https://www.advanceddistributors.com/ (his business is rebuilding Lucas distributors)

The conversion is still a work in progress so it's not tested properly yet.
