When I purchased the car the door was noticeably misaligned. I tried shimming and playing w the door but that doesn’t seem to work. Having a hard time telling if it’s the A-Panel or the door skin that is off. Appreciate any help figuring out how to get it sorted and aligned.

It could be both the A panel and skin. Can we have a picture looking directly at the gap between both the door and A panel rather than looking down the car.

Where the A panel finishes at the top, is there a gap there?? Do you know if the A post was replaced at all??

What gaps you gave around the door ?

I'm afraid that if you adjust the gap at the A-panel it won't be nice elsewhere

Work forward from the rear quarter panel. Even if that has been replaced it's hard to put it in the wrong place.

Use the front edge of the quarter to align the rear edge of the door , you want a parallel gap with the swages in line. This is what the shims are for , a shim under the lower hinge will raise the rear of the door and close the gap at the bottom , removing a shim from the top will raise the rear of the door and and open the gap at the top.

When the gap is parallel raise or lower the door to get the height right , you want a good gap on the sill.

It's a bit of a  juggling act but can be done.

Once you know the door is in the right position it will help you to to determine if the A panel is wrong.

Here are some photos , hopefully this makes it a little more clear that the door looks much farther in than the a panel. Can’t seem to pull the door out so I’m thinking maybe the a panel has too much curvature and is bulging out past the door?

Although not the easiest to see the A panel does not look like its been folded really tight around the A post.

Do you know if the A post has ben replaced at all?? I have done a couple a few years ago where the curverture was too much on the new A Post which when you tried to fold the A panel return around onto to it the whole thing did not sit right. This then required a little bit of sectioning to get things to lay right.

Another possibility is the door itself is not the original door and has been replaced at some point in time. The gap at the top of the window frame looks quite large which points to either a replacement door or something is out with how its been installed. What is the gap like at the rear of the door including the window frame??
