998 With 1275 Head. No Fuel To Cylinders And Won't Start

I wouldn’t go back to the 998 head - the problem you’re having is unlikely to be the head itself so you may well find swapping back gets you no further forward for lots of work (and cost)

Sounds like the carb needs a bit of an overhaul.

Thanks mate I flushed out all the carb this morning and I seem to be getting fuel there now.... I think.
I just popped my dizzy cap off whilst piston 1 nearest the rad was at TDC. My rotor arm Is pointing to 10 o'clock rather than 2 o'clock as expected. Not sure what I need to do here to rectify it but I'm going to have a read up now

Compression had dropped to 50 psi
I removed the cylinder head. Added a 998 head gasket on top of the 1275 one.
Cranked it over dry I was getting 120 psi average. So slight improvement.
Cleaned the whole Carb out again and blew through the jet to ensure no blockages.
Ensured static timing was correct.
That was it.
Seemed to stutter then eventually fire up.
Not sure how the combination of head gaskets will work but I've tapped and plugged the holes that would intrude on the 1275 gasket.
Cheers again guys what a fantastic supportive forum!!

Well done buddy. But how does the car drive now? That is the main thing?
Ah I didn't have time to take her out as I had to go to work but I'm back tomorrow. Can't wait to set the mixture properly and go for a spin

Those gaskets won’t work for long.
i would say you have something fundamentally wrong going on here.

Ah really! That's a shame! I took it out today and she was really lumpy on acceleration. After a lot of investigation turns out it was a dodgy spark plug.
It ran Really nice after that albeit very rich. Turns out I had a AAA needle In there. I'm hoping the lack of compression isn't due to bore wash. Going to order a more appropriate needle this week and a wide band gauge.
I do have a 1098 engine I'm building which will be the replacement so if the gaskets last until its built then winner winner.
