I just need the filler neck. Anyone have a rubbish tank? Thanks

i would imagine a lot of tanks that are scrap are partly because of the neck being rotted out, common area due to exposure to elements.  mine was the same so no use to you and already binned

 

apologies if this is teaching to suck eggs but if this is a welding job do take extreme caution even if 'dry' old fuel can remain in the seams of tanks and build up of fumes causes explosions obviously.  proper cleaning should be done and ideally certified prior to welding work 

 

would rather say it and it's not needed, than not say it and someone gets hurt

Thanks for the advice. I need it because I’m using a fuel cell and want an external filler. One from a van or pickup would be ideal.

I see, fair enough, they do a fake filler neck for people who want to pretend they have twin tanks.. maybe that can be made to work?

all you really need is the outermost part with the locking tabs to fit the cap onto, the rest is just fairly straight forward fabrication

I used a "fake filler neck" on my tank. The stock neck had been damaged by someone using an angle grinder to remove a locking cap

Yes I thought about the 'fake filler neck'. Also I looked at an MGB one.

I managed to find someone with a knacked van tank, so hopefully I can take the neck from that.

I salvaged one of these for my plastic car with a van tank. Pipe's the right diameter and the top bend fits snuggly. Dunno how the flange would go on a Mini.
