Hi folks, what spot welder do people have? Thinking of investing, recommendations gratefully received!

I use one of the Sealey fuzzy logic models and find it welds well, giving good consistant welds and neat looking joints.

It covers material thickness up to two by 2mm so fine for the panel work I repair.

Over the years I have built up a decent range of arms and tips so can get welds into some of the awkard places.

Spot welders are good and quick for general panel fitting as long as the work is prepared well and clamped tight, never use the arms to pull the material together as this puts too much stress on the operating arms and can damage them.

They are not a cheap item of kit to buy , there are cheaper alternatives but it is a case of buyer beware.

I find the Sealey has a reasonable duty cycle but it's best  to take time between successive welds if there is a long run to do.

As with all welding the better the preperation the better the joint.

I will take a look at Sealey’s offering, thanks for the info.  What made me interested was Machine mart has the two spot welders discounted at the moment, but invariably they can probably be found cheaper with other suppliers.

Just had a quick look on the Machine Mart site and their CSW13T looks very similar to the Sealey model.

It will only come with the fixed arms as shown which limits application a bit, as you can see from their site the other arms are expensive for what they are but do make the welder more useful.

I use a italian made TECNA® 7900 - Portable Hand Spot Welder

 

makes life a million times easier. but be ready to spend money on arms. I'm looking for longer arms at the moment
