    Starting My Mini Up

My 1972 minivan has been in the garage for 10 years and it's time for an outing. My first road trial did not go well. No clutch and no brakes! Both now resolved.

Drove on the road today – started off well but then lost revs and power. Removed air filter in case clogged. No real improvement. Slight pressure on accelerator pedal increased revs but pushing the pedal more reduced revs. Will check dashpot, plugs and points tomorrow. Wondering about possible distributor mechanical advance problem. Any help here appreciated…..

I would start by thoroughly cleaning the Carb out. Stale petrol will probably have gummed it up, and its a cheap place to start, only initial cost being some carb cleaner and a few gaskets
