did minis come with factory holes in the heelboard? I'm looking at a mini at the moment and notice there is one small hole on the left hand side heelboard near the companion bin (when looking from the rear of the car) any idea what thats for?

yes mine has a small hole somewhere around there (maybe 8-10mm diameter?) I can't for the life of me remember what went though it, if anything

 

was planning to just bung a grommet in

Yes early cars with electric fuel pumps had a small plastic bulkhead fitting and a pipe leading the to the pump.

I think it was for a fresh air feed to the points side of the SU pump.
