Just looking for some help, I’ve found an SC12 supercharger kit which I believe were made in Aus for Mini’s. Does anyone have one fitted and also is it suitable for a 1380cc road car ?

I’ve had a look over the forums but not much info around on the bigger size engine suitability. Looking at power around 120-130bhp at flywheel.

My spec
1380cc
Minispares MSE 4 head
AC Dodd RS cam
1.5 minispares forged rockers
MED ST2 pre verto clutch
Rebuilt gearbox with X Pin diff


I do have one of the original VMax m45 supercharger kits but it seems they have a fair few flaws including heat build up, carb icing and fuel dripping out the air filter from my experience.

While I applaud your considering supercharging, apart from achieving 130 BHP, what are you aiming for ?

 

I ran a Shorrock on a succession of small bore A series road cars and was very happy.  I was not so happy with big bore 1320+, because of too many blown gaskets and overheating on pleasant summer days.

 

OK, I didn't have too keep my foot down but what was the point of having the power there and restricting myself to only using 75% of it ?

Looking for a low down torquey road going car, 1380 NA is nice but still have to use power higher up the Rev range.

You might want to speak AC Dodd about the camshaft, I'm pretty sure he does a specific cam for supercharged engines, they are normally ground on a lot wider LCA, he also does a clutch which can hold mega torque ( which is what supercharging produces). If you contact TurboPhil of these parts he will sort you out a head.
