Is their a secret way to remove the grip from the hand break lever?

not a secret but the easiest way to do it (also works for motorcycle handlebar grips) is to put a small thin screwdriver up into the grip and squirt some electrical cleaner or brake cleaner into the gap, move screwdriver around the handle to distribute the sprayed in liquid and then they slide right off.
