is the gutter drain area on this mini normal? looks like the curved part of the gutter at the front where the drain hole usually are has been cut away? its a 1980s morris leyland. the body has had a full sand blast and all rust cut out and panels replaced. Just not sure this is normal (especially at the front)?

the seams where the panels join together was also cleaned up painted then trim glued on and repainted over again.

looks like it's been cut away, the gutter should be the same all the way around as far as I'm aware (at least compared to all the ones I've ever seen)

Now this is an interesting one as it is not a UK built car.

Spider should be able to give you the correct info.

Do you know where the car was built ?

We finished making ours (Australia) in 1978 but they were still in stock in the factory way past that.

I have to say though, from the shape of the drain hole, I doubt it's an Aussie, ours had 2 round holes (drilled) near each other front and back.

Its New zealand built (or australian). The rear has the drip holes and the gutters go fully round on the back. The front is only like this

Yup will upload soon.

Spoke to the guy who did the welding repairs and he said that the front corners were hand made.

Do u guys see any issues with them being the way they are?

I suspected they may have been 're-worked'.

I don't see any issues with them, other than I personally don't find them visually appealing.

I also thought 76. However a few places online say they did sometimes be found on cars up to 1980. So this must be one of them

OK, thanks.

It's not an Aussie car and I'd say almost certainly from the UK factories.

I am not intimately knowledgeable on them, however, I will add that they did make small changes to the car made there for various export markets. This could, for example, include the drip rails for a NZ market. I stress, I don't know if that is the specific case here, but could well be a possibility.
