I will soon be painting my shell ( inside and out, engine bay, etc.) doors, boot and bonnet. I understand about a half litre is enough for three coats for the roof. How much paint and clear coat do I need to paint the rest of the car?

Thanks in advance for all replies.Attached File  IMG_1070.jpeg   83.14K   2 downloadsAttached File  IMG_1076.jpeg   89.6K   2 downloads

Last one I did in 2K solid white inside and out took 4 litres plus the 2 litres of hardener with a 10 % splash of thinners as well.

There is a surprising amount of area to cover inside and out.

Buy 5 litres and that will give you the correct touch up/repair paint should you need it.

Even from the same supplier no two mixes of paint are ever quite the same.

Expect the same in primer or probably the full 5 litres plus hardener.

Don`t forget the air fed mask

And the wipe rags and the sand paper and the polishing compounds and polishing mops.

Always hidden costs.....

For everything these days...

Hi there,

I'm about to start painting my Mini as well and don't know which paint to buy and where from. I'm based in London and I will be doing the underside of the car, engine bay, boot and potentially the interior. For the outside, I will take the car to a paint shop, so they can do a professional job. I have never done this before and don't want to spend a lot of money in equipment, like an air compressor, etc. Not sure if I can use rollers or brushes, or if an electric paint gun can do the job.  Happy to get the propper PPE mask, etc.

I'm not too bother about the finish, as the areas I'm going to paint won't be much visible, but still want to achieve a decent finish...

Any advice on this would be much appreciated. Any links to paint products and seam sealers would be great.

Apologies Gnielsen for stealing your post, but I thought I just follow up on this as it might be helpful for both of us.

Cheers.

P.S. Yes, I read the paint guide, but still unclear what to use and where to buy!

Victor.

You need about 5 times as much paint as the Factory used.
