Morning guys (Toronto time),

  • Issue -
    • I have a four glass blade fuse box on an MK4 - last fuse does not carry power?
  • Actions I took
    • It worked the other day so I know something went sideways in the last few weeks.
    • Replaced with new fuse box I bought ages ago, same issue.
    • Run in power from lights - still nothing fires up that blade.
    • Replaced with three different fuses - nothing.
    • Checked glass (in-line) fuses (at the firewall) - both are good.
      • I am suspecting something is wrong here as I did here it "pop" the other day as I blew the glass fuse as grounded somewhere during re-wire.
      • I changed to a new in-line fuse as I noticed the metal base on one of the glass (in-line) fuses was blown away when it "popped".  This in-line fuse has a small light to indicate connectivity and surprise!! - it does not come on when I turn ignition to position #2.
    • Checked for any frayed wires, grounding (should not be an issue but ya never know) no problem.
    • Moved the power that I had on blade number four to blade #3 - lights work so power is running through.
    • Turned ignition switch to position #2 - check with strobe light, 1,2,3 blades getting power and again blade #4 - nothing.
  • Results and oddities
    • Indicators don't work in any case - Blade #3 and certainly not #4 which is dead???
    • I read that the amps top down are - (Would it make a difference lets say if you have 15AMP for #1 as opposed to 35AMP?)

Thoughts and would upload a picture but that imgbb site is down..

Phil

I once had an enterprising girlfriend, who, on a snowy night, realising that a fuse had blown, wrapped the foil from a cigarette packet round the fuse, and replaced it.

She got home safely, and we were able to trace the fault, following the part of the loom with the melted plastic.

**If it was only that easy as have done similar to no avail.....

Ok decided gonna jump power from line #2 to #3 and should resolve the issue once and for all - strange how this became an issue though??

Note - removed the heater box as not required and disabled the rear defroster- so big draws on power will not be an issue
