Like Martin I too have a signed copy of the book.

I knew that Pierre Schmidt of the now long defunct Sweet Mini Club Luxembourg invited DV to one of the earliest  1983 IMM, so I took my book with me to have it signed by the Master. I bought my copy at one of the Essen Techno Classica from a Brit exhibitor some time earlier.

I remember David Vizard reported on his trip to the IMM in his 'Mini Tech News' newsletter at the time (see MTN June 1983 front cover below).
'International Mini Meet' held 21st-23rd May 1983 in Ansembourg, Luxembourg.

Thank you Martin for bringing back the nearly forgotten memories. Damn, I could write much more about all those people mentioned apart from Pierre, Andreas Hohls who until a few years back ran Mini Mania parts shop near Oldenburg. Or Peter Wartenberg, whom I met at the Ring the first time he raced the Maguire-Mini on German soil and much later I met on several occasions. By the way, he was (is still?) married to a British girl. He was the guy who sold me my first set of 6x10 Revolutions shod with 160/490-10 racing tyres. He had a bad heart desease, therefore I do not know if he is still with us... I could go on forever.....

I have 3 copies of HTMYM, one is a very rare hard cover.

Just be aware, that like many publications, it does have errors, eg;-

Both of these books were the first issue.

There's other errors I've found and sadly, also misleading information too, eg, that on pre-loading the diff bearings, front suspension arm ratios and others. In the case of the later, while I haven't gotten around to asking DV on that, it appears that info came from an even earlier book written by Clive Trickey.

These are all great books none the less and I wouldn't discourage any enthusiast from reading them, just verify the data before cutting metal.
