Hello.

I have a 1999 model Mini in which I changed the engine back 12 years ago to twin came engine, however that engine is now sold and Im currently working on refurbishing my old engine. I keep all the original wiring loom and ECU from when I removed the engine from the car.

Long story short, mounted everything back-together connected all the wires to each sensor on the engine as the cables where marked when I took them out.

Lifted the engine back into the car and connected the engine back to the main C162 engine harness to main, connected the starter motor back with the cable running from the battery.

But when connecting the battery to the car the light on the immobilizer is lit red, I turn the ignition and nothing can be heard in the relays however when turning the key to start one relay is clicking. Im stopping here and I change the battery in the remote for the immobilizer. Then I push the button the remote two times and the red light goes out, making me think that the car might now turn over. But no nothing is happening, no fuel pump on starter relay clicking.

When I'm sitting and thinking what might cause this the relay inside the immobilizer starts to click constantly??

Bear in mind only parking lights are working, no horn, no indicators (making odd sounds). The light for the hazzard light is constantly glowing regardlessly of position etc etc

Help!!!

There is an inertia safety switch which cuts off power if it thinks you’ve had an accident. Perhaps that has got triggered and needs to be reset?

If it was/is automatic there is also the park/neutral switch that only lets it start if it’s in park/neutral
