Mini Wheel Nuts Required

Best Answer KenM , 25 July 2024 - 10:22 AM

I believe my problem is resolved whereby the inserts are mostl likely for original mini 5/8 unf radius nuts but being relatively soft brass or similar, they have deformed over time by previously having a series on incorrect nuts fitted.  Anyway the new nuts seem to fit quite nicely wheels are secure centralized and thre nuts will almost certainly bed in over time.

Thanks to 'all' who assisted here on the forum and thanks to Tim of Raceways, great guy and company to deal with and after helping identify what was needed the nuts arrived the next day, excellent help all round gents thanks again - Ken

Hi there

I have a Mini with what I think are Italian Innocenti wheels (10"), the problem is that although the studs are 5/8 UNF it seems the correct taper for the nut is 45 degreees and not the more common 60 degrees?  Does anyone have or know where I can get the 3/8" UNF with the 45 degree taper please?  Thanks in advance - Ken

Our server would grind to a halt if it hosted all the piccies. It's best to upload them to something like Imgur and  embed from there.

Or resize them down so small they'll upload.

My phone camera's pictures come out 1-2MB directly, using MS paint to quickly resize them down to 20% size then put them about 100-200KB which is fine for uploading here and more than enough resolution to see.

Try phoning Minispares, your wheel nuts look like the sleeved type, they sell that type which come with a separate washer, the angle may be correct, or at least you could use the nuts and get some new washers made, but take dimensions before phoning them, to make sure things will fit.

Ahh Momo/fondmetal wheels.

use Imgur to host your pics full-size and use their forum link.

Might help you check which wheels they are.

put your pics on Imgur and I will look later not sure of the accuracy of your paper.

Pic of the back? I recon it has inserts and they have been run on lists of different nuts.

i would swap the inserts over.

I used raceways a couple of years ago for new inserts and wheel nuts - very good service

Hi Nicklouse, I reckon you are spot on, scraped the paint of the back of one bolt hole and think its a brass insert and some have definitely got a range of indentations from different nuts.  Do the inserts just tap out from the back?  If so I will take one out and see if I can get direct replacemnt inserts but with the 60 degree taper i.e. the same OD as the original insert.  Thanks for the continuing advice, greatly appreciated!
