Evening all, as I finish off my 1969 Mk 2 1000 refurb I’ve had to replace the centre binnacle as someone previously was busy hole cutting in it. I’ve photos of the start point today (as I do before all electrical works) and after a number of hours the temp gauge, the oil pressure gauge and the speedo were remounted into the new binnacle. Then the fun started .. ignition good, car starts and all seems well , oil pressure gauge good, lit etc .. temp gauge nil .. indicators nil … fuel gauge nil .. I’m stumped. All the leads are on the correct terminals - The headlights work, dipped headlights/flash works too and the centre blue light is lit also the horn works on the stalk. Is this some voltage regulator issue and if so where? Help .. I’ve downed tools now in protest.

are the indicators not working or is it just the indicator light in the speedo that's not working ?

 

fuel and temp gauge are the only things that rely on the regulator output - if neither work it could point to a fault there. are you sure you have the voltage regulator  connections the right way round (white is power in, green is power out to the gauges IIRC).

 

is the main connector block fully seated ?

Check the fuse is making good contact. They can be fitted but the copper clasp thingy can be weak / dirty, corroded and insufficient to make a good contact.  I had that when driving, suddenly, I'd lose temp, indicators, fuel gauge and brake lights.  In the end, I reluctantly changed the original fuse box.

 

Headlights, horn etc work off of the other fuse.
