Hello all,
I have owned my mini for approx 13 years now.
I did a full bare metal, nut and bolt restoration of the mini between 2011 and 2016. The car shell was chemically ripped and the e-plated (like modern cars) in an attempt to help keep the dreaded rust at bay.
The engine was rebuilt by Bill Richards as a 1380 twin carb achieving 100 BHP on the rolling road
The interior is full leather seats (done by a local car upholsterer and ex Rolls-Royce trim specialist). There are bucket seats in the front and the standard benching the rear. In addition the leather I also got the upholsterer to add additional padding to both the front and rear seats.
The car is on 13" wheels with fully adjustable suspension, hi-lows and Spax adjustable dampers
Back in 2020, I decided to swap the Bill Richards engine for a 16v BMW K series bike head conversion whilst still using the A-series block and gearbox.
Sadly life and work got in the way an I've only now in 2024 got round to finishing the engine swap. The new engine should produce circa 130 BHP which is nice but was not the main reason for doing the swap. I really like the look of the 16v head with the exposed pulleys and cam belts.
Once i work out how to upload images I will try to add couple of pictures of the car and the new engine
