I’ve got a sump guard fitted (Scottish type)

should I be running an oil cooler with the sump guard or is modern oil (I use valvoline vr1 ok enough to deal with it) what would be the effects on not using an oil cooler with a sump guard, if any?

the car is used on the road and not a full on competition car.

thanks.

Yes the oil will not be cooled as much. But as you say road car you should be fine.

of you do fit a cooler then also fit a thermostat as cold oil is worse that hot oil.
