Morning all, like so many I'm now back in the mini world at 55 years of age. Have just invested in a 1969 Mark 2 which I'm sure will be causing me to query and post on here in the coming months. Looking forward to it and the ongoing upkeep! Cheers David Hopkins, South Charente

Hi David,

Welcome to the forum plenty of excellent advice and tips on here.

It sounds as if you are planning to spend some money on your new purchase if not, it will certainly happen. Oh how we love our ever compliant Minis.

I suggest you become a TMF+ member so you get the 71/2% discount from Minispares, it will certainly help towards postage out to you.

Some 1st pics .. work to do on the dash - my preferences, possibly another set of wheels for winter - minilites, I may choose to hide a radio too .. oh and probably a headliner replacement. Electronic ignition too. All less than £50 .. which is what I told my wife ..

Welcome to TMF !

Mk2 Minis are now quite rare when compared to Mk1 & Mk3 Minis as they were only produced for a few years.

Also is the French Mini magazine 'Maxi Austin' (Le Magazine Des Anciennes Mini) still being published in France?

Mk2 Mini on the cover of this issue in link below.

In the early 1960s, we had a lovely girl from near Chalais, who came to live with us to study the pedigree of Hereford cattle.

She quickly adapted to right hand drive, and almost won an FTD at a Curborough sprint in my 1070 S.

She proudly drove home in a 997 Cooper.

Very, very sadly, she was T boned in it, at a round-about, on the way home, by a Belgium holiday maker.

Twenty years later, returning from a holiday with our children at Lacanau, we saw Hereford cattle in a meadow.

I still don't believe that it was chance, that we found her farm, her brother, and were shown, through watering eyes, her mangled Mini.

Welcome and greetings from North Charente!
That's a lovely Mk2 - Is that from Berigaud in St Junien?

Yes, I’ve had my eye on a few but this one seemed to be in better condition than most.

I pass that place fairly often when I go to St Junien or Limoges. Never been in, but they often have nice stuff.
