I have a 96 JDM mini that had a drop down bracket installed. In order to get in and out of the car I have to remove the steering wheel each time.  I want a mini not a NASCAR.  lol.  I was able to remove the drop bracket but I can't move the steering column up.  I found on youtube a video and it says that there is a U-bolt under the pedals and carpet, but that was for a MK1..  Any help would be appreciated.

All minis should have 2 u bolts holding the steering rack in place. It’s critical to loosen the u bolts prior to adding or removing the drop bracket as otherwise you’ll damage the splines on the rack or column.

Yes, there's 2 U Bolts (and 4 nuts) not on the floor but on the Toeboard. If you look just a bit to the left of where the Steering column hits the Toeboard you'll find 2 nuts there and the other 2 are in the same place on the other side of the car.

Slacken them well off when lifting the column up. When tightening them I'd suggest starting ion the driver's side do each nut 1/2 turn at a time until they are tight again, then do the passenger's side using the same technique. This reduces the rack rolling as you do up the nuts.
