I did see this. I wondered, what the current owners of the individual brands would make of it, if, it were used again on another car…

I mentioned this to my dad and we had a chuckle at the idea of owning Austin

 

but as he pointed out chances are some chinese company will probably buy it to sell a new range of ultra cheap electric cars because the existing brand recognition sounds better than 'chow-mein motors' (or something to that effect without any racism intended or implied)

As has happened with the Chinese owned and built MG range of cars now being imported to the UK.

Isn't there some issue with BM now owning Rover now though

 

I don't mean to start another BMW / Bini / 'not a proper mini' war but the one thing that does annoy me on that is, when I play gran turismo, my classic mini comes with a German flag which is ..well.. eyebrow raising to say the least

 

fortunately I couldn't throw the controller at the TV in rage because I use a wheel and it's firmly bolted down to the table

BMW sold the Rover brand to Land Rover, so it's back in Solihull where it belongs.

hahaha, and Solihull belongs to whom? TATA, not really British either!

 

But do not worry Thyssen-Krupp is also at least partly owned by TATA Holding.
