I've just fitted some 6.5" subs I made under the rear seats and they sound really good! But now the main speakers are really letting it down. Currently just some 6.5" Vibe comps on the rear parcel shelf running direct from head unit. Running these from an amp would improve their performance a lot, but they're still behind me.

Problem is, I don't like the under dash speaker pods, and removing the air vents in the dash will only allow 4" speakers and will probably sound crap because they'll make the dash rattle.

Has anyone managed to fit speakers to the door cards? I know there is no room behind the door card for the magnet, but was thinking about some universal fibreglass pods mounted somehow to the front of the door card? Can't find anyone that has done it before though.

These door pocket ones work well for me.

I got them from Bolton Bits more than ten years ago. Not cheap, and they make getting in and out require tucking your feet in more carefully, but they do the job.

I do like those! Not sure if you can get them anymore?

Are they any wider than the standard Mini door pockets? I have BMW M3 seats and the normal door pockets are a close fit.

No, the door pocket part is the same size as standard, Ian.

I run a set of the boltonbits pockets and would recommend. My only comments would be careful not to kick the speaker getting out, and buy some chrome U trim for the top as without the edges are sharp.

boltonbits are still selling on ebay but don’t currently have any door pockets listed. Might be worth contacting them.
