The regulations were set out in the RAC 'Blue book', under 'Appendix J', and were inclined to alter from year to year, and were open to interpretation and challenge.

 

I have had a quick look in our loft, but I fear that the wife has heaved my old 'Blue books' into the recycling with all my collection of Autosport.
