Evening all, I'm looking for some advice from anyone with first hand experience of any or all of the following dog engagement gear sets. I'm looking to buy a gear set and see KAD, MED, and Swiftune all have their own gear sets available. My question, excluding the price, which of these three gear sets is 'the best'?

For context I'd be using this with a 3.9 FD for track days & racing only; I'm not concerned about road use. On first look the KAD and Swiftune gear sets appear to be the closest in terms ratios with the MED being the outlier. Rod gearbox.

KAD: 2.167, 1.486, 1.244, 1:1

MED: 2.239, 1.568, 1.244, 1:1

Swiftune: 2.143, 1.486, 1.195, 1:1

Thoughts and feedback welcomed.

An interesting read. I think on balance I'd choose the KAD or Swiftune gear sets & given my buying history with KAD I'll go with theirs.

Thanks for the help @imack.

I can never work out this ratio malarkey....
Using the above figures does the swiftune set have the longest 1st gear out of the three sets?

It's simply the number of turns of the input gear needed to turn the mainshaft/output pinion once

So yes, the swiftune set has the longest first gear

I changed to the KAD set last October as my Quaife kit was showing signs of wear... The KAD kit is excellent and gear change smooth. Gear ratios work well for rallying... Don't know about circuit racing. Only little thing I would say is reverse gear isn't very strong. Not an issue for racing as only really used in the paddock/off trailer etc. I wouldn't like to try to use it under pressure after a spin or overshoot etc. I have done 2 full day rallies, a Rallysprint and 1 more stage with no issues. Approx 200 competitive miles. Latest stage after my recent change to 13" wheels here: https://youtu.be/Gz9...Tm1GkazX542cPjZ
