Always looking for a bargain.
But as always never seams to come...
I have seen a vast increase in prices for the bits that interest me but I am also more than aware that e.bay sale price does not really mean that was what the item actually sold for... non payers and scammers..
Where do you get your mini bits from ?
Facebook market place? (ALSO HAD MY SHARE OF SCAMMERS)
Gumtree local ads?
Local clubs?
Friends?
Localscrap yards(thankfully I never see any minis in the scrap yards- or i go to wrong scrap yards)
I do think the for sale section on here is underutilised.
CHEERS FOLKS.. just being nosy really...

The Mk1 Forum below has a good 'For Sale' and 'Wanted' section for registered members of the forum, mainly parts for earlier Minis but later Mini stuff also often gets listed.

I've shied well away from the on-line used sales sites a while back, in a nut shell, too many headaches and I'm happy to drive myself when I want to go for a ride. I have a few local and UK guys who I trust that I usually do 'horse-trading' with.

I can recommend Somerford Mini Spares, good prices and a good service!

I've had loads of good stuff off ebay for the mini and the volvo (and previous cars..) nothing's been dodgy yet? but I do try and avoid things that seem too cheap, or don't have a decent brand name.. and for the mini in particular mostly I either look for minimine or old skool minis
mainly that's for small parts with free delivery instead of paying the minispares postage costs
but also the odd speculative parts 2nd hand like the 12g202 head, twin HS2's, 1100 crank, all at £50 each, may not even use them but at that price I was happy to have them on the shelf as an option. the metro doors to steal the handles from, £40 the pair I think? new door glasses I can't remember but similar money
when I needed a new bonnet I scoured ebay for ages and they were all in birmingham and that one turned out to be a gumtree purchase
larger higher value / brand new items (brake m/c, panels, etc) I get from minispares for the discount / garuntee of after sales + waruntee, and then the delivery charge isn't as important
I can't even remember the last time I went to a scrappy, I wouldn't even know where one is near me !? and the likelihood of there being even one classic mini in there is probably slim surely. maybe for the volvo I suppose..

Plenty of used spare parts in the scrapyards for Minis back in the day.....now they would all be ebay 'barn finds'.
Why was the part you needed always on the Mini at the top of an unstable 3 or 4 car high stack?...which you had to climb up in the days before Health & Safety!

The mini-parts shop on flea bay good quality-and very helpful for NLA parts.
Minispares for the more expensive parts the 7.5% helps
Sommerford for the new parts that nobody else stocks.

oh yeah sommerford I've had a few bits there as well, the C pillar brackets and seat belt brackets for the companion bins
can't remember why I ended up not using minispares on that one, out of stock maybe

Seams I am buying from the right places/people.
Trading parts to keep minis on the road is always my first option.

I will say generally speaking there’s been less parts for sale recently and more whole projects.
The last thing I sold on eBay had nearly 30% fees, so I’ve avoided selling on there ever since
