Could always be the earth in the boot. The nut underneath sometimes corrodes and makes for a bad connection. Bit of clean up on that maybe required also...

Would also check the terminals onto the battery

I will give them another check but i am.pretty sure theyre ok. They look in really good condition, almost like new to be honest in the boot. Terminals, everything there must have been renewed not long before my ownership.

I will double check though thanks.

Thanks again all this is much appreciated!

to check battery just test voltage on cranking, with battery fully charged, overnight should be enough. if battery voltage plumetts then battery bad if slowly cranking but voltage at battery ok, suspect negative/earth connections, if it starts fine then suspect alternator. have had issue with halfords when they told me battery under warranty tested ok, when i got him to retest it failed know from experience in my job that electronic battery testers are not 100% better on lead acid to do drop or load test on cranking

Hi all.

Realised i hadnt put the fix to this on here. New alternator and earth leads (now have a spare too) and all is well with the mini again.

It managed to toast another battery before these were replaced but all good now.

Thanks again for all the help along the way.
